MRR Company Profile

buildingMaterial Resource Recovery ("MRR") began in 1996 when, in conjunction with Union Gas and Enbridge Consumers Gas, it identified an area of concern and took a proactive approach to find a long-term solution to an industry wide problem.

Odorants are mixtures of sulphur-based organic compounds that, by law, are added to natural gas to enable the end user to detect natural gas leaks. Through routine maintenance and upgrading of these odorization systems, equipment contaminated with these materials must be properly disposed or recycled.

As a result of this collaborative effort, MRR established a treatment facility in Cornwall, Ontario, which has since treated odorant contaminated equipment from customers throughout Canada and the United States.

Since 1999, MRR has broadened its treatment capabilities and Certificate of Approvals to include the destruction of :

PCB Wastes
Compressed Gases
Pharmaceuticals
Narcotics

As part of its on going environmental commitment to acquiring and developing new technologies for sound waste management, MRR took delivery in 2000 of a mobile waste water treatment system utilizing the latest in advanced oxidation processes (AOPs).

This TiO2 Photocatalytic water treatment system is the most favorable and viable method for the remediation of ground and process waters contaminated with organic compounds. MRR now provides its customers with an on site water treatment capability that is reliable, cost effective and generates no waste by-products that require further disposal.
