MRR NewsMRR CONDUCTS PUBLIC CONSULTATIONMaterial Resource Recovery held a public meeting on May 1, 2003 to announce results of its 2002 Source Testing, Ambient Air, Ground Water and Biomedical monitoring programs. Results in all cases showed compliance with all Provincial Standards and no impact of MRR's operations on the surrounding environment. "We feel the results will be welcome news for residents," said MRR General Manager Damian Rodriguez. "The results, compiled by independent firms, show we are having no impact on the local environment." Rodriguez credits a combination of training, aggressive management and improved equipment for the results achieved. MRR also presented to the public a proposal for the construction of a temporary storage area for Department of Transport (DOT) approved sealed roll-off and marine containers containing soils, metal and concrete contaminated with PCB. "We are not applying to expand the amount of material we treat or to change other facets of the operation" said Rodriguez. "The addition will mean MRR can handle the material we receive more efficiently." |
