Open for BusinessA new $3.5 million recycling facility has been constructed in Cornwall's Industrial Park, near the Boundary Road entrance to the City from Highway 401. The 17,000 sq.ft. state of the art operation will serve the natural gas industry in North America, specifically by treating odourant wastes through environmentally responsible and effective processes. Material Resource Recovery President Damian Rodriguez indicates that the plant will emply up to 24 people by years end. "I must commend Human Resources Development Canada for their assistance in the hiring process, and in providing subsidies where possible" reported Rodriguez. He also complimented the community and all those responsible for the project's success, noting the ease with which he worked with professionals and various agencies. Mayor Brian Sylvester was enthusiastic in welcoming this new business to Cornwall, stating that "from an employment perspective, it is always enlightening to see the establishment of innovative centres suchas this which can provide challenging careers fro our people. Material Resource Recovery Inc. complements the City's environmental profile, and blends well with the community's fast growing reputation as a leader in environmental initiatives." This one of a kind treatment centre was the result of over two years of planning and collaboration with industry partners such as Consumer's Gas and Union Gas.
